1955 — where it started
Haydon Que Club & Village Hall traces its roots to 1955, when a group of local coal miners created a place for recreation, friendship and community life.
25 August 1989 — the fire
The original club was destroyed by fire on Friday 25 August 1989. The old newspaper report was preserved and displayed in the rebuilt club.
2 March 1990 — rebuilt and reopened
The new building opened on Friday 2 March 1990. The rebuild involved R. A. Ford & Sons alongside dedicated local volunteers, and the new club was officially opened by the Rt Hon Lord Hylton.
Still a community place
The building has changed, but its job is much the same: give Haydon somewhere local to meet, play sport, hold events and spend time together.
